Our Persimmon Citrus & Spice Confit is a Moroccan-inspired fruit preserve made by hand in small batches using ripe persimmons sourced from the Granite Belt, local honey, dates, fresh orange and warming spices.
Each batch begins with seasonal persimmons slowly cooked with honey, raw sugar, dates, orange juice and orange zest until the fruit becomes thick, glossy and spoonable.
Cinnamon and cardamom add gentle warmth and aromatic depth, while the orange keeps the flavour bright and lifted.
The result is honey-sweet, citrus-bright and softly spiced, with a fruit-dense texture and tender pieces throughout. It leans dessert-style, but also works beautifully with savoury pairings where a little sweetness, spice and citrus balance is needed.
This confit is made in regional NSW as part of The Seasonal Companion’s small-batch preserve range, with a focus on real ingredients, seasonal produce and simple, generous flavour.
Uses:
Perfect on toast, fresh bread, pastries, crumpets, pancakes or pikelets. It can also be spooned through yoghurt, porridge or desserts, used as a pastry filling, or served with cheese boards and grazing platters.
It also works beautifully in sandwiches and wraps, especially paired with cold meats, roast chicken, ham, turkey or pork. The honeyed spice and citrus lift make it a good match for savoury fillings as well as sweet uses.
