Rockpool Ring

Inspired by the little stones, textures and unexpected flashes of colour found amongst the rocks and sand along the coast.

This Rockpool Ring is hand sand cast in sterling silver, with beach sand added to the mould to create its rugged, naturally irregular surface. A smoky quartz-coloured nanosital stone is cast directly into the silver, becoming part of the ring as the molten metal flows and forms around it.

Areas of the silver are polished smooth, contrasting with the rough beach-sand texture and the small faceted stone nestled into its surface.

Rockpool is a design I’ll be returning to, experimenting with different coloured stones, sizes and individual casts. But just like the textures found along the shoreline, no two will ever be exactly alike. The beach sand and molten silver leave their own marks each time, making every Rockpool Ring individually unique.

The pits, marks and irregularities in the silver are an intentional part of the beach-sand casting process and will vary with every Rockpool Ring.
