Inspired by the rugged textures of the coastline, this one-of-a-kind signet ring features a dark raw Australian sapphire nestled into solid sterling silver.
Created using traditional sand casting techniques, I added local beach sand to the casting process to create a richly textured surface, with tiny pits, irregular markings and organic contours reminiscent of weathered coastal rocks and rockpools.
The contrast between the high-shine polished silver and the raw, sandy texture gives this ring its distinctive character. The natural sapphire has a deep, dark appearance and sits within the silver like a little treasure discovered along the shoreline.
Weighing 7.7 grams, this ring has a substantial feel while its softly rounded, organic shape makes it comfortable to wear. The combination of polished surfaces, rugged textures and the natural sapphire creates a piece full of character.
Each sand casting produces its own unique textures and details, making this ring impossible to reproduce exactly.
Handmade in my Silver Linings studio in Sellicks Beach, South Australia.
