Seed Pod Pendant

Inspired by the seed pods I found scattered along the beach at Cape Tribulation, this one-of-a-kind pendant began as a piece of wax, carved by hand in my studio.

I carved the soft organic form and created each of the individual seed-like impressions inside the pod before having the piece cast in solid sterling silver. The finished pendant was then shaped, polished and oxidised by hand, allowing the darker tones to settle into the recessed areas and bring out the individual shapes.

The smooth, highly polished outer surface contrasts with the organic texture inside, while the chain passes directly through the top of the pendant so there is no separate bail interrupting its simple pod shape.

The listing photographs include images from the original hand-carved wax through to the finished sterling silver piece, so you can see part of the making process behind it.
