A bookmark is one of the few gifts a reader will actually use. Each of mine comes in a sleeve with space to write a message, so the sleeve is the card and your gift is ready to hand over.
I'm Jess, a former CSIRO conservation ecologist. I make each original cyanotype by hand in sunlight, laying real ferns, flowers, leaves and feathers on light-sensitive paper. Each bookmark is a digital print of one of those originals, printed in Australia on 350gsm recycled card.
Choose a design to suit the person:
- Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus): filled with Australian wildflowers, for ocean lovers and anyone dreaming of Ningaloo
- Dandelion Wishes: a native daisy seed head, for a thinking-of-you or encouragement gift
- Skeleton Leaves: uncommon finds, for gardeners, teachers and botanical art lovers
- Grevillea: Deua grevillea (Grevillea rhyolitica) from my garden, a favourite of eastern spinebills, for native plant growers
- Bottlebrush (Callistemon): a flower spike and slender leaves of the shrub that brings honeyeaters into gardens, for native gardeners and anyone who plants for wildlife
- Coastal Forest: bracken fern with washes of gold, for book lovers and teacher thank-yous
- Among the Wildflowers: wildflowers from the grassy woodlands of the Southern Tablelands of NSW, for bushwalkers and anyone who loves the pressed-flower look without fragile petals
- Red-tailed Black Cockatoo Feather (Calyptorhynchus banksii): a feather I found in northern Queensland, for bird lovers and birdwatchers
They suit end-of-year teacher gifts, Christmas stockings, book club swaps, or tucking inside a new book.
