Original Humpback Whale Cyanotype Art - Anna

In 2024 I had the immense honour to swim with Humpback whales off K'Gari. It was an incredible and moving experience. They are gentle giants but also really curious of humans and were rolling around me, exposing their bellies, almost close enough I could have reached out and touched them. They were almost puppy like. 
I was inspired to create immediately. This piece is very special to me because I had been very unwell and part of my illness has been constant body shakes. This piece was the first I was able to create where the body tremors had calmed down and I could hold and control my paintbrush more easily than I had in many many months. 
I named her Anna for two reasons really. One is that the original pioneer of the cyanotype process, particularly in science and botany (botany is my background) is an impressive woman named Anna Atkins. The second is that Anna is also the name of one of my dearest friends who always knows how to make me feel better, feel supported and welcomed me into an incredible community when I needed it most. Although we live far apart, I love her deeply.

Your artwork will come professionally packaged for safe travel and with a certificate of authenticity. 10% of profit from each sale is donated to a conservation charity that changes each financial year. In 2024-25 I am donating to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy whom I used to volunteer with.
