A friend gave one of these bags to her mother, who promptly said it was too good to be only for yarn, and promptly used it as her handbag. This unique bag corrals the yarn so it doesn’t run away, so it is great for knitters and crocheters. The squares show natural and stylised images of poppies. They do not make a regular rectangular bag, but a more three-dimensional shape. It rises to peaks where the handles are attached. Ties hold the top closed. The bag and handles are quilted for strength and softness.
The bag is made from cotton (fabric, wadding and thread) so washing is easy in cold water and will not add to the plastic plague of our time. Dry in the shade if possible as using a hot dryer will lead to a bit of shrinking on the first wash.
The price you pay, minus packing and shipping, will be donated to WIRES, the Australian Wildlife Rescue Association.
The bag is not regular, but effectively measures about 35 x 48 cm. It easily fits five balls of velour yarn with space to spare (see photographs).
The handles are 51 x 4 cm and the ties are 28 cm long, to allow for variation in the volume of the contents.
