The strips that make the bag have the appearance of ancient writing or symbols. Pieced from batik, this unique eye-catching bag is large enough to fit the contents of a ‘green’ supermarket bag, or A4 folders and necessities for a day out or a day of study. The bag was sewn, sandwiched with wadding and then quilted on a home sewing machine (with hand-sewing to finish the binding). The quilting adds strength, as does the padding, and may add a little insulation. A metal loop inside could be used for keys or a phone. Unlike supermarket bags this is all cotton, including the wadding, the handles, all the fabric and the threads, and can be machine washed (cold is recommended).

The bag measures 35 x 38 x 17 cm on the outside and the straps are both 37 x 3cm.

Machine washing is easy in cold water and will not add to the plastic plague of our time. Dry in the shade. Iron on a cotton setting.
