Opal Skies is a one-of-a-kind pendant featuring a beautiful Australian fairy opal, hand-wrapped in bright silver-filled wire.
The opal has a deep black background scattered with tiny flashes of green, blue and hints of other colours that appear as the stone catches the light. The sparkles of colour against the dark stone remind me of a starry night sky, which is where the name Opal Skies came from.
The stone has been hand-wrapped using silver-filled wire, creating a delicate frame that follows its natural shape. An intricately woven bail with flowing silver details adds character to the piece while allowing the opal to remain the focus.
Fairy opal is a distinctive Australian gemstone material found in the Winton and Opalton region of Central Queensland. Tiny deposits of natural precious opal occur throughout the sandstone host rock, creating beautiful scattered flashes of colour.
The sandstone is carefully treated to darken its appearance, bringing the naturally occurring opal colours into sharper contrast. The beautiful flashes of green, blue and other colours are entirely natural.
This opal was sourced from a small Queensland supplier who cuts and treats these beautiful stones personally.

A note on care & materials
As fairy opal contains treated sandstone, avoid prolonged exposure to water, excessive heat and direct sunlight to help preserve its appearance.
Silver-filled wire has a substantial layer of sterling silver bonded to a base metal core, offering the appearance of sterling silver at a more accessible price.
To keep your pendant looking its best, avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions and harsh chemicals. Gently polish the silver with a soft jewellery cloth and store in a dry place when not being worn.
