Large dangle earrings in an eye catching black and white Japanese washi paper with silver and black upcycled bead detail. The earrings are lightweight, crafted from handmade balsa wood beads covered in lacquered black and white floral and geometric patterned Japanese washi paper, topped with upcycled silver plated and black beads. The design is different on all sides. These will be presented in a black velvet gift bag.

Materials & Technique:

Many of the materials I use are rescued from landfill or upcycled fashion textiles and jewellery, for e.g. discontinued interior textile samples; vintage Japanese kimono, obi & temple alter cloths; Rajasthani wedding gown fragments; hand stitched textiles from Turkey & Uzbekistan. Of course, I also love contemporary fashion textiles & lots of embellishments too... metallic threads, wires, beads, buttons, treasures from nature... basically all sorts of decorative objects!

Where appropriate, all materials & embellishments are adhered to a base structure using strong holding acid free adhesive or jewellery glue.
