This unique miniature Glossy Ibis & flower collage art pendant necklace & brooch has been crafted from antique Japanese textile, lacquered photos & vintage Japanese ledger paper. The Ibis was photographed at the Putta Bucca Wetlands in Mudgee NSW. The bird & flowers have been printed on archival paper & lacquered. The striking Japanese ledger paper frame has also been lacquered for protection & strength. It is versatile & looks stylish on its own, attached to a scarf or suspended as a pendant on the decorative cord, which is adjustable in length using a slip knot. The decorative cord can also be worn on its own by folding it in half & slipping the decorative ends through the loop like a choker!

The back of the brooch has been beautifully finished with matching textile detail & a small 'R' logo in metallic thread. It presents as the perfect gift with a black velvet lined matching gift box. This piece is not intended to be immersed in water, a little rain is not an issue.

Materials & Technique:

Many of the textiles I use are rescued from landfill or re-purposed fashion textiles, for e.g. discontinued interior textile samples; vintage Japanese kimono, obi & temple alter cloths; Rajasthani wedding gown fragments; hand stitched textiles from Turkey & Uzbekistan. Of course, I also love contemporary fashion textiles & lots of embellishments too... metallic threads, wires, beads, buttons, treasures from nature... basically all sorts of decorative objects!

Where appropriate, all materials & embellishments are adhered to a base textile or art paper using strong holding acid free adhesive or jewellery glue.
