The structured paper forms are folds of Japanese Yuzen Washi.
The paper is thick and softly fibrous, with a vibrant pink base heavily saturated in some areas. Gold Art Nouveau-style swirls weave across the surface, layered with pastel florals and delicate botanical motifs outlined in gold.
To create each paper piece, I measure and cut from a larger sheet of paper, fold into shape and burnish to strengthen the form. A fine strip of orange washi has been applied along the final seam marking the closure of the piece. Craft adhesive is used to secure the shape, before each piece is lacquered once dry. Sturdy, yet delicate.
The paper tiles hang from thin 30mm gold-plated hoops between seed beads. I have added a single light amber glass bicone bead to each for a bit of sparkle.
Very lightweight. Overall drop length is 6cm. The paper tiles have been lightly lacquered, but avoid getting wet.
