These earrings feature hand-folded origami kite-shaped diamond pieces created from Japanese Yuzen Washi Chiyogami Paper.
The decorative paper has a black base accented with brilliant gold to create a wave pattern, overlain with red, pink and white florals. To create each paper piece, I measure and cut from a larger sheet of paper, and fold into the final interlocking model. A light coat of lacquer is applied to add stability and provide light protection.
Each origami piece hangs from a thin gold-plated hoop alongside a single red glass faceted rondelle bead.
I have used 20mm 16K gold plated over brass thin hoops, gold-coloured findings and black glass micro bugle beads to frame each origami piece.
These are very lightweight and please avoid getting wet. Overall drop length is 5cm
