My name is Sue and I am passionate about using natural fibres to create beautiful one-of-a-kind, ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ accessories for you and your home, which are made with love and intention in my little studio in the northern coastal suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. These gorgeous little mats are perfect for displaying special tiny trinkets or to protect your furniture from glasses or cups, and make a beautiful gift for the person who is difficult to buy for.
Each mat is made with love - the natural fibre yarn is first handspun on either one of my spindles or spinning wheels, and then woven on a little wooden pin loom to create a very special piece to treasure.
'Snowflake' and 'Blizzard' are both gorgeous soft gray tones, however, 'Snowflake' has been spun finer on a mini Turkish spindle, so the mats are finer and more delicate than 'Blizzard' - 100% Merino Wool.
The colours in the 'Heather' mat remind me of the Scottish highland, with soft green and heather like purples which combine to create a very soft muted tone with a lovely texture - 25% Whitefaced Woodland Wool, 50% Corriedale Wool, 20% South American Wool & 5% Viscose Tweed.
'Plum' is a lovely blend of rich burgundy and olive tones - Extra Fine Merino Wool & Silk.
'Umber' ' is a beautiful combination of natural shades of brown (50% British Shetland Wool & 50% Merino Wool), while 'Mocha' is similar, although a bit darker brown and it has some natural lighter tones through it - Wool, Flax (Linen) & Silk.
'Teal' is a deep turquoise blue - 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool.
'Russet' is an autumn red/orange - 50% British Shetland Wool & 50% Merino Wool.
'Latte' is a pale brown/beige that is quite similar to hessian - 100% Corriedale Wool.
'Obsidian' is a pearly black with lighter silvery grey flecks throughout - 70% Extra Fine Merino & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Amethyst' is a beautiful rich burgundy plum with silver and grey tones - 70% Extra Fine Merino & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Pewter' is a subtly verigated silver - Racka Sheep Wool, Cashmere, Angora, Mulberrry Silk & Tencel.
'Mulled Wine' is a rich burgundy - 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool.
'Meadow' is a lovely fresh green - 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool.
'Glacier' is a lovely soft variegated blue with silvery white flecks throughout - 70% Extra Fine Merino & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Cinnamon' is a rust colour, and is created with a deliciously chunky yarn which produces a thicker, bumpier texture - 100% Bergschaf Wool.
These mats are an eco-conscious option, as the fibres are naturally sustainable and compostable, ensuring that this handcrafted item can return to the earth after many cherished years.
Please note that due to the beautiful unique characteristics of handspun yarn, there may be slight differences between mats created with the same yarn.
The mats are approximately 9cm x 9cm. The thickness of the mats vary and is dependent on the yarn used: Finer yarn results in a thinner mat, whereas chunkier yarn results in a thicker mat.
To ensure your mat lasts and looks its best, please give it a gentle hand wash and dry flat in the shade as required.
