My name is Sue and I am passionate about using natural fibres to create beautiful one-of-a-kind, ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ accessories for you and your home, which are made with love and intention in my little studio in the northern coastal suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. These gorgeous mats are perfect for displaying a special candle, vase of flowers or other precious trinkets and they make a beautiful gift for the person who has everything!
Each mat is made with love - the natural fibre yarn is first handspun on either one of my spindles or spinning wheels, and then woven on a little wooden pin loom to create a very special piece to treasure.
The colours in the 'Heather' mat remind me of the Scottish highland, with soft green and heather like purples which combine to create a very soft muted tone with a lovely texture - 25% Whitefaced Woodland Wool, 50% Corriedale Wool, 20% South American Wool & 5% Viscose Tweed.
'Cappuccino' as the name suggests is a blend of browns and creams - Flax (Linen), Wool & Silk.
'Summer Skies' is a gentle blend of pale blue and coral pinks - 100% hand painted Extra Fine Merino Wool.
'Blueberry' is a stunning combination of blues and purples - 70% Extra Fine Merino Wool & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Raven' is 100% natural black Alpaca Wool and would make an awesome addition to any Halloween decor, along with 'Pumpkin Spice', which is a gorgeous orange - 100% Merino Wool.
'Sorbet' is a combination of blues, purples, yellows and white - Extra Fine Merino Wool, Rose Fibre & Corriedale Wool.
'Indigo' is of course a lovely deep blue - 50% Corriedale Wool, 25% Shetland Wool & 25% Tussah Silk.
'Paint Palette' is a beautiful colourful mix of bright handspun yarn, but does contain knots and quirks which make it especially charming - Merino Wool & Corriedale Wool.
'Umber' is a beautiful combination of natural shades of brown - 50% British Shetland Wool & 50% Merino Wool.
'Pewter' is a subtly variegated silver - Racka Sheep Wool, Cashmere, Angora, Mulberry Silk & Tencel.
'Obsidian' is a pearly black with lighter silvery grey flecks throughout - 70% Extra Fine Merino Wool & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Berry Patch' is a lovely subtle variegation of reds - Extra Fine Merino Wool & Silk.
'Pewter Plum' is a beautiful rich purple with silver and grey tones - 70% Extra Fine Merino Wool & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Glacier' is a lovely soft variegated blue with silvery white flecks throughout - 70% Extra Fine Merino Wool & 30% Mulberry Silk.
'Fudge' is a variegated mix of creams and browns - Fine Merino, Baby Camel & Corriedale Wool.
'Cinnamon' is rust coloured and has been created with a deliciously chunky yarn which produces a thicker, bumpier texture - 100% Bergschaf Wool.
These mats are an eco-conscious option, as the fibres are naturally sustainable and compostable, ensuring that this handcrafted item can return to the earth after many cherished years.
Please note that due to the beautiful unique characteristics of handspun yarn, there may be slight differences between mats created with the same yarn.
The mats are approximately 14cm x 14cm. The thickness of the mats vary and is dependent on the yarn used: Finer yarn results in a thinner mat, whereas chunkier yarn results in a thicker mat.
To ensure your mat lasts and looks its best, please give it a gentle hand wash and dry flat in the shade as required.
