This jacket made me smile from the very first stitch. 🫖
I found this denim jacket pre-loved and rescued it before it could disappear into landfill. There was something about it — the weight of it, the feel of it — that said there's more life in me yet. So, I brought it back to my little sewing space here in the Blue Mountains, NSW, and got to work.
On the back, I created a whimsical tea scene — a teapot mid-pour, filling a waiting teacup — a small celebration of slow mornings, creativity, and the quiet joy of taking your time. It's the kind of detail that makes people stop you in the street and ask what on earth you're wearing. In the best possible way.
The collar and cuffs are finished with hand-sewn beadwork, each bead chosen from my collection of reclaimed embellishments. I love these tiny details — the sparkle, the texture, the way they catch the light. You won't find this kind of care in anything mass-produced.
It's slow fashion in the truest sense made carefully, made meaningfully, and made to last. There will never be another one exactly like it.
