Meet Sergei the Satin Bowerbird.
He is a cute little fellow hand embroidered with love onto a felt base using DMC embroidery cotton. The work is aprox8cm x 8 cm. I love working with textiles and colour and creating stories that bring my little animals to life.
Sergei has his own little story which will be provided as a printed copy too. Here is his story...
" Sergei is a Satin Bowerbird. He was shiny and sleek, a gorgeous Impossible Blue with the Imperious Purple eyes of an ancient god. So in short... a pretty fine damn bird to be having at your party.
Admittedly, even though he was swoon material, Sergei was not the greatest dancer. Most male Bowerbird dances were at best a kind of hippity, hoppity, whirry, jumpity kind of thing... hard to call it dancing really but no one would say that out loud. They got a bit stuck in their courtship dance to be honest.
But by golly no one could outshine a Bowerbird when it came to colour coordination. Even if it was all blue...those dudes loooved Blue.
Sergei always carried a satin Sky Bluebag with Cobalt Blue beading, to carry about his exotic blue Treasure Collection. Because...well...you just never knew when a female Bowerbird would drop in and need courting and Be Blue Prepared was Sergeis motto".
