Hand sculpted by Derek from hebel (an aerated concrete), this organic shaped vase embodies a rich blend of rich blend of Lava, Purple and Sunburst tones blended together with a dynamic flow. Compact and grounded, it comes complete with a test-tube to hold either a single stem or small collection of flowers from the garden, or even a dried flower stem.

Derek hand sculpts each piece in our studio in Buderim from a block of hebel with manual tools like rasps and chisels and then carefully drills the hollow in the hebel for the test tube well. Following that he uses a water marbling technique to colour each piece with a breath-taking pattern of colours and patterns.

It works beautifully as a dry vase, tabletop object, or standalone sculptural accent. A tactile, earthy piece that brings understated texture and colour to shelves, sideboards, or outdoor settings.
