I love working with rocks and minerals as this is where my artistic journey began, with my sister's geological thin section images. It has been satisfying to be able to incorporate some beautiful stones into my work with this new homewares line of bottle openers (and cheese knives).

This bottle opener has brushed copper finish stainless steel opener hardware and embedded pink opal stones. Pink Opal, also known as mookaite, is a variety of common opal from Peru, mainly found in the Andes Mountains and referred to as Peruvian opal or Andean opal. It is typically a beautiful opaque milky-pink colour. It is said that Pink opal is a stone of love and gentleness, bringing an energy of gentle love and kindness to all types of relationships. It is the perfect stone to carry when struggling with sadness, especially that of a broken heart. Pink opal encourages us to look within and strengthen our connection with our inner self.

Pink opal is a variety of the traditional October birthstone opal.

All stones are carefully embedded in a resin mould, sanded and flow-coated with food-safe resin. The stainless steel opener is attached using resin making the finished piece a strong yet stylish addition to your bar or a great gift idea for your family and friends, or someone who just appreciates beautiful objects!
