Inspired by the recent flush of cherry blossoms, these handmade wooden bookmarks capture that fleeting burst of pink that arrives with the change of season.
After seeing the cherry trees suddenly come into bloom, I wanted to capture some of that softness in watercolour. Loose washes of blush, coral and pink create delicate blossoms that feel fresh, joyful and just a little imperfect, much like the flowers themselves.
The watercolour paper is carefully mounted onto a slim wooden bookmark and finished with a natural cotton cord, creating something practical and beautiful for the pages of a favourite book.
Each bookmark features a slightly different section of the floral design, so no two are quite the same.
At approximately 12 cm × 3 cm, they're compact enough to sit comfortably between the pages without overwhelming your book, while the wooden backing gives them a lovely tactile feel.
