These Shopping Totes are made from Tea Towels which I purchased when on holiday in Australia and England. I have never used the Tea Towels as we have a dishwasher, so I thought I would make them into a Shopping Tote. I have made and sold several others and they are always a good talking point.
Design #1 - Hobart and southern towns, Tasmania - Tea Towel Tote
The exterior of the tote is predominately dark green, brown and beige with drawings of noteable places of interest in Hobart. They are - Tudor Court, Russell Falls, the Shot Tower, Port Arthur Church, Aerial view of Hobart Casino, Huon Valley Apple Trees, Richmond Bridge, Tasman Bridge and Mt. Wellington, Constitution Dock, Tasman Arch, Japanese Garden - Bontanical Gardens, New Norfolk, Cat & Fiddle Square and Salamanca Place. Normally I would have cut the Tea Towel in half, but for this one I didn´t because many of the places of interest pictures would have been separated.
The interior of the tote is lined with bottle green poplin to match the Tea Towel colour.
Sizing:
- width of the tote is 53.5cm (21")
- height 37.5cm (14-3/4")
- handles 51cm (20") (stitched 3-5 times during the making process)
I have designed this tote bag myself.
This tote can be machine washed in a mild detergent. The bag can also be ironed.

Design #2 - Devon Recipes - Tea Towel.
I bought this Tea Towel in Plymouth Devon(shire) England.
The exterior of this tote is predominately chocolate brown, with red, royal blue, light blue, beige and white on it. On the front of the tote there are recipes for Devonshire Buttered Shrimps, and; Pork Chops in Devon Cider. There is also a drawing of a thatched roof house there as well. On the rear of the bag there are recipes for Devonshire Rich Tea Scones, Devon Fudge, Devonshire Sponge Flan and Clotted Cream.
The interior of the tote is lined with beige coloured poplin. The handles are made from Nylon webbing*.

- handles each 44.5cm (17-1/2")
