Upcycled Book Club

The Robe - Lloyd C. Douglas - Handbag made from a book

The Robe was one of the most popular books of the 1940s, staying at the top of the New York Times best seller list for almost a year. Published in 1942 it tells the story of a Roman soldier, Marcellus, who wins Christ's robe in a game of chance. It follows his quest to find out the truth about the robe and is a story of faith, romance and adventure.

This beautiful edition was rescued from the dusty shelves of the local charity shop and has been upcycled into this one-of-a-kind Novel Bag. It is lined with a 100% cotton fabric, has handles made from an upcycled belt and closes with a feature button and an elasticised loop. With a reinforced spine and measuring 23.5 x 15.8 x 3.5 cm (9.25 x 6.22 x 1.37 in) it can carry a few small personal items and is a gorgeous accessory to any outfit. This utterly unique handbag is sure to be a great conversation starter.

Upcycled Book Club is situated in Brunswick, Victoria. If you are in the area, convo me about a local pick up and avoid paying shipping costs.

“It is a queer thing. In a time of great need, when powerful leadership is demanded, the people—confused and excited—hear only the strident voices of the audacious, and refuse to listen to the voice of wisdom which, being wise, is temperate.”
