Welcome to Miss Cooper Makes, a Melbourne-based handmade label by me, Natasha Kuperman.

Every item in the Miss Cooper Makes range is lovingly handmade in my home studio, where creativity meets sustainability. I draw on my background in marketing and design and my enthusiasm for making practical and well-crafted items.

Over the years, I’ve explored many creative paths - from running a graphic design studio, to launching a beeswax wrap business that sparked my passion for organic and natural fabrics. Today, Miss Cooper Makes is my main creative outlet, and as a dedicated op-shopper and zero-waste enthusiast, I see endless potential in giving materials a second life.

Each piece is thoughtfully crafted with the range including a mix of second-hand and new fabrics. My ethos is simple: slow, sustainable sewing. That means each item encompasses at least one of the following attributes:

  • Made from upcycled or recycled materials
  • Made from remnants and/or fabric scraps
  • Made with natural or organic fibres
  • The item is multi-purpose or reusable, replacing a single-use item.

I work primarily with natural fibres like cotton, denim and linen, often sourced from op shops, market stalls and online de-stash groups. When I do buy new materials, it’s with intention - the perfect zip, strap or fabric to complete an item.

Every item is made with care and attention to detail, using techniques like top stitching for durability and a polished finish. Because everything is handmade, you might notice a charming quirk here or there; a little reminder that your item wasn’t mass-produced, but made by hand, just for you.

Limited runs are the norm, sometimes just one or two of a kind, depending on the fabrics I find. Miss Cooper Makes is on a journey toward becoming a zero-waste studio. Labels are printed on post-consumer-waste paper, packaging is minimal and plastic-free, and leftover scraps are donated to textile recyclers or fellow makers who create small-scale items like buttons and earrings.

Thank you for supporting my handmade, Melbourne-based small business.
