These artisan made items are decorative and can add a creative and artistic touch to your home. This item was made in my home studio and fired in an LPG gas fired raku kiln. It is a one-off and was bisque fired to 960 degrees celsius, then glazed in raku glazes, fast fired in a raku kiln to between 1000 and 1100 degrees celsius, then taken out red hot with tongs, flamed in a metal bin filled with newspaper that burns, then it's cooled and plunged into cold water. Not all pots survive this process, but when they do they are very precious. This raku pot is purely decorative due to the fast, low firing and decorative glazes used. These items are fired to approximately 1050 C which makes them a little fragile and need to be handled with care.
Background: I attended Sydney's National Art School gaining the Certificate of Studio Ceramics.
