Hand thrown blue stoneware matcha sets consisting of a mixing bowl known as a "chawan" and whisk stand referred to as a "chasen naoshi" in Japan. The bowl is used in the preparation of matcha tea and the whisk stand is used to maintain the bamboo whisk and allow it to dry without becoming mouldy. These items are glazed in a deep greeny blue. These bowls and whisk stands are microwave and dishwasher safe and are the perfect size for preparing and drinking matcha tea.

Both bowls have lips.

The larger bowl #1 is approximately 11.5cm in diameter and 13.5cm in wide at the lip and 10cm high.

The smaller bowl #2 is approx. 11.5 in diameter and 12.5cm wide at the lip and 8.5cm high.

Please select choice of #1 or #2 at checkout. Being hand made means they will have some minor variability in size, shape and glaze patterns and surface that don't affect functionality.

The whisk stands are approximately 8cm high x 7.5cm wide.

This artisan crafted matcha tea set of pottery tea bowl (chawan), and whisk holder (naoshi) is not only functional but decorative with an artistic design in stoneware clay influenced by the my experience of a Japanese tea ceremony.
