A pale, delicate Luna Moth (Actias luna) in watercolour with some white acrylic paint highlights.
These moths are native to North America and can grow up to 7 inches across. Their wings are pale and translucent blue-green to lime-green, with long tails on the hindwings and crescent-shaped eyespots that saw them named after the Roman goddess of the moon. In some populations, the pink borders on the wings are yellow instead.
This artwork is 5 x 5 cm. Painted on 300gsm watercolour paper, signed and dated on the back.
