Description
A very small square watercolour painting of an Orchard Swallowtail (Papilio aegeus), with iridescent blue wing details.
These butterflies are found throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea, and can have a wingspan up to 14cm across. The males and females differ slightly in their markings; the butterfly I have painted is female, whereas the males have less white on their forewings and lack the blue and red patterning on their hindwings.
The artwork is 5 x 5 cm. Painted on 300gsm watercolour paper, signed and dated on the back.
This painting is made to order, and as such, will vary slightly for each buyer. Please allow up to a week for me to have your painting created and shipped.
