Description
I've said it before and I'll say it again: even if you're scared of snakes, you can't deny how beautiful their scales are! Just look at the diamond patterns featured here, truly beautiful!
This eye-catching suncatcher features shedding from an Australian Diamond Python (locally sourced in an ethical manner). The top diamond bevel features shed from the python's flank, while the small cabochons below feature shed from it's belly. You can really appreciate the change in patterns, scales, and colour between the different areas on the snake's body.
The double-sided diamond bevel measures 8cm x 4cm at its widest points and catches the light beautifully - you can see the scale patterns clearly as it spins, and the double-sided cabochon drops are 1.5cm and 1cm in diameter. Having all three elements be double-sided means that there isn't a 'front' or 'back' for this piece, so no matter which side you look at you'll be enjoying its 'best' side! And as you can see in the pictures, the bevel creates subtle yet stunning light refractions - creating an almost the rainbow-like quality across the scales.
Fun fact: I carefully reclaimed the bevels by hand from an old leadlight door, so this piece is also helping to keep glass and old lead away from landfill!
