Description
Let's face it, pets really are the most important member of the family - I mean, could you honestly tell me that your camera reel isn't overflowing with selfies of you and your pet... pictures of them sleeping in the sunny spots... or getting stuck in precarious places they're not meant to be in... or just simply doing goofy things (I know mine certainly is!!)
Each pawtrait, around the size of an A4 sheet of paper, is completely unique and aims to capture your pets personality. Every step is completed by hand in my home workshop - from the sketching of the design right through to routing the wooden base (or attaching appropriate hanger if preferred). I use a variety of skilled techniques to add to the illusion of movement, fur direction, and depth in all of the pawtraits I create, and take great care in my selection of glass types and colours, as well as other materials used. And in addition to traditional stained glass techniques I may also incorporate other elements such as fused glass (melted in my kiln to achieve a particular effect); wire sculpting (to add features such as whiskers, claws, bells etc); and inclusion of pet cremains, fur, or name tags in the case for memorial pieces.
To ensure the best possible pet pawtrait, I will ask you to send through at least 3 or 4 of your favourite clear photographs of your pet - ideally your pet will be facing the camera or in their favourite position / location / activity (if any one photograph doesn't incorporate these elements, don't worry - I often create a composite from several pictures). I'd also love it you shared some info about your pet with me, like their age and a funny story - this is just because I'm nosey and love animals! From there, I will hand sketch a design for your feedback and approval before creating the piece. I will send you through progress photos at the half way mark (unless of course you would like a surprise - I always ask beforehand!) Finally, your pawtrait will be completed in around 6 weeks, and beautifully wrapped using recycled and reclaimed materials wherever possible, and safely shipped all over Australia with tracking through Australia Post.
Please get in touch if you've got any questions about YOUR pet pawtrait that I haven't covered here - oh, and don't feel that pawtraits are limited to cats and dogs because they're absolutely not (two of my favourites not included in the photos here were actually of a chicken on top of her coop, and a horse!!)
