This bronze brooch is a replica of a piece of medieval jewellery from the 14th century. The quatrefoil is a 4-lobed design, in this case with delicate leaves extending from the corners.
Ring brooches can be attached to the outside of an outfit, but also used to secure shawls, scarves and collars.
The piece is a lost wax casting in jewellery-grade ancient bronze (copper and tin only), from a hand-carved master mould. We create our masters based on detailed study of archaeological items, then cast and hand-finish each piece in Sydney.
The overall dimensions are 25 x 26 x 3mm.
Bronze jewellery can be left to develop a natural patina with use, or polished regularly to retain the shine of a new piece.
