This is an Art Print of my original Acrylic on Canvas painting, Place of Refuge. It features Beerbarrel Beach, found in St Helens, Tasmania. This original piece was painted from my own personal reference photo taken during a family trip to Tasmania.
Having travelled to Tasmania several times throughout my life, St Helens (in particular the Bay of Fires) had been on my wish list for a while. When we finally found ourselves with time to travel to St Helens I was delighted. The beaches in the area are beautiful, with red rocks, white sands and blue turquoise seas, however, they are quite exposed to the open sea. Large waves and rips are common, far too big and dangerous for our youngest. After speaking to a local she recommended Beerbarrel beach. It was a short drive from where we were staying. A great recommendation! While other beaches boomed with large crashing waves, the large boulders that encircled this little beach created a safe harbour. It was our safe refuge. The family spent hours enjoying the water, sand and exploring the rock surroundings.
Open edition print, not numbered. Prints come unframed, with no mat surround or backing.
This image is printed in-house using Canon Lucia pro archival inks. It is printed on Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Rag 310 GSM, 100% Cotton Rag paper, acid free and has no optical brighteners. Print is sent protected behind glassine paper (to avoid damage to print surface) and wrapped in cellophane.
Can be professional framed. Should you wish to frame it yourself I recommend using a mat board in your frame to prevent the print from touching the glass, which can result in the print sticking to the glass and/or crinkling over time. A mat surround for a 20x20 cm (8"x8") image would be suitable. I also recommend backing it with 5mm foam core backing and sealing the gap between the backing board and frame with tape (eg framing tape or kraft paper tape). Avoid touching printed surface.
