Handmade stained glass kookaburra suncatcher.
This lovely kookaburra is made using various shades of brown, white and blue stained glass. I choose specific parts of the glass that will best represent the shading or feathers of the bird. He is sitting proudly on top of a glass branch. His feet are hand cut from copper and are soldered to match. Once soldered, I apply a black patina that outlines the details beautifully. He is then cleaned thoroughly and waxed to make him shine.
I have attached a secure soldered hook at the top of his head which I thread a hanging cord through, so he will arrive ready to hang.
He measures approximately 10” x 5”.
As each piece is handmade, there may be a slight variation in the selection of glass used compared to the photo shown. But each one will catch the light beautifully.
**Please be aware that this is a made to order product and there will be approximately a 5 - 7 business day turnaround to make it.
Local pick up is always available by prior arrangement.
Maintenance - whilst I take every precaution to minimise this, over time oxidisation may occur on the solder lines, it appears as a white residue. This is due to moisture in the air and is totally normal. To remedy this he would just need a good scrub and polish again. This can be done using a regular household non abrasive scourer and some pledge or carnuba wax (hubbies sometimes have this in the garage for their cars!). Any scrubbing or polishing is best done flat on a towel and on a flat surface so as to not bend the pieces and weaken the joints. If you are unsure about any of this, please feel free to message me as I am more than happy to chat about it at anytime.
