There are times in life when it feels as though everything is happening around us, leaving us with little say in the direction things take. We can become caught up in circumstances, past experiences or the expectations of others, forgetting that while we cannot always control what happens, we can influence how we choose to respond. Recognising that distinction is often where meaningful change begins.
Perspective was inspired by the Control card from the Whispers of Healing Oracle by Angela Hartfield, illustrated by Josephine Wall. The card explores the importance of taking responsibility for our own wellbeing, recognising the influence of our thoughts and emotions, and becoming active participants in our personal growth. It encourages us to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, acknowledging that our needs, beliefs and perspectives can change as we move through different stages of life.
Within the card's imagery, a hawk carries a maiden high above the ground, offering her a different perspective on the world below. The birds represent the ability to rise beyond our immediate circumstances and recognise possibilities that may not be visible when we're caught in the middle of a situation. The changing colours surrounding the maiden reflect transformation and the shifts that occur as our understanding of ourselves develops.
At the heart of this necklace is Coral Fossil, a stone traditionally associated with grounding, stability, resilience and transformation. Formed through the gradual fossilisation of ancient coral, its intricate natural patterns reflect the passage of time and the changes that shape the world around us. Its connection to ancient marine life offers a beautiful reminder that transformation is a natural part of existence, often unfolding gradually rather than all at once.
These qualities complement the message behind Perspective. Understanding ourselves requires a willingness to look beyond familiar patterns, question the beliefs we've carried and recognise where we have the ability to make different choices. It isn't about controlling every emotion or circumstance, but about developing the awareness to respond with greater intention.
The design of this necklace reflects that message through two wings that open outward, revealing the Coral Fossil at its centre. Inspired by the hawk's elevated perspective, the wings symbolise the opportunity to look beyond our immediate experiences, while the exposed stone represents the understanding that emerges when we become more aware of ourselves. Together, they express the relationship between perspective, personal responsibility and the freedom to approach life differently.
This necklace is a reminder that while we cannot always choose the circumstances we encounter, we can continue learning, adapting and taking ownership of the direction we move in. Sometimes, changing our perspective is the first step towards changing our experience.

Handmade Process
Perspective is an original, one-of-a-kind creation, handcrafted through the intricate art of micro macramé.
Every knot is individually tied by hand, with the crystal, cord colours and developing design influencing the direction of the finished piece. Rather than following a predetermined pattern, I allow each necklace to evolve naturally, drawing inspiration from the stone itself and the message behind the oracle card.
Created in Dalby, Queensland, each piece represents hours of patient, detailed craftsmanship. From selecting the crystal to tying the final knot, the entire process is completed by me, without machine-made knotwork or mass production.
Care Instructions
To care for your micro macramé necklace, gently clean the cord using a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and mild soap when necessary.
Do not submerge your necklace in water, as prolonged exposure may affect the long-term durability of some crystals and jewellery components.
Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, harsh chemicals, perfumes and cleaning products. When not being worn, store your necklace somewhere clean and dry to help preserve its appearance.
