Not a Patch On… was inspired by a bag of patchwork pieces that had already been made up but not yet all sewn together.

The pieces are beautifully designed, with no two pieces the same.

I combined them with some cotton calico to make this timeless tunic.

The dressmaking pattern is by reknowned Japanese designer, Issey Miyake. These unique patterns are prized, as he was designing for Vogue in the late 80’s and into the 90’s and they are construction puzzles, with beautiful folds and intricate closures.

This tunic has a large faced fold at the front made from the patchwork pieces which have been utilized to create the dominant left front. The left and right fronts have a pocket. The yoke and yoke facing is constructed from more of the patchwork and faced with calico and the back has a patchwork appliquéd as well.

The tunic is a size 14, but is really multi size. 32 inches from shoulder to he, at the front and 34 inches from neck to hem at the back.

Across the front from pit to pit is 32 inches.

This tunic is great over tights, a pencil skirt or jeans.
