Donburi means “bowl” in Japanese, but it’s also the name for those comforting, one-bowl meals- rice topped with something warm, savoury and satisfying.

Part of the Stillness series, this piece invites a slower moment. A pause between the day and the evening meal. Something simple, held in the hands.

Finished in a soft cream glaze with expressive iron brushwork, the surface carries a sense of movement - almost like something drifting or carried across the clay. Each mark is completely unique, making every angle feel a little different.

Wheel thrown by me in my Sunshine Coast studio, it’s perfectly sized for a single serving. Whether it’s a classic donburi, a quick stir fry, or a quiet noodle night.
