Rock Pool - Hand Spun Yarn with long lengths of colour and Oh-So-Soft

The warmth of orange and yellow sandstone - cool blue water - this yarn reminds me of Sydney Harbour.  There are long lengths of colour before they transition to another ...

A simple 2ply construction - plyed with itself.

This yarn is an amazing blend of Alpaca, Guanaco, Cashmere, Silk, Angora, Merino, Possum and Angelina (gold twinkle threads) - there are subtle twinkles in the yarn which doesn't photograph well.  That fibre was blended and kettle dyed by Ixchel Fibres - an amazing independent Fibre Artist whose studio is in the Yarra Valley.  She processed, dyed, carded and blended it - then when I got my hands on that lovely fibre:

I Spun it (on a Majacraft spinning wheel)

I played it (on that spinning wheel)

I Skeined it

I Set it (a washing process)

&

I Wound it into a ball so you won't have to.  That is a lot of Hand processing !

The result is a lovely soft yarn about 5ply (Sport weight) in thickness.  (12-13 WPI)

There is a whopping 160gr in this ball of yarn - approximately 450m.

It would make a lovely shawl or large scarf or small blanket - warm and Oh-So-Soft.
