Type of Opal - This is a large and unusual Australian opal. This stone has green pinfire and a wonderful natural crystal blue opal down one side. It has been treated with sugar and heat to enhance the colors of the matrix opal - this doesn't affect the opal or fade. I have wire wrapped it in Sterling silver wire, it weighs 15.88 ct. A very different and unique opal to treasure.
Material - Sterling silver wire.
Size - The finished pendant measures 45 mm long x 15 mm wide.
Necklace - 45cm Sterling plated snake chain.
Packing - Your pendant comes in an organza bag and a padded bag for posting, sent securely packed and tracked.
I source my opals from local miners, cut and polish most myself. It's often a messy thing to do requiring a lot of patience and persistence, and a glorious delight to find that colour within a stone. I tend to like the unusual ones, the unique and different that are often overlooked yet bring such beauty. All opals are solid unless otherwise stated.
The essence of Australia, a wonderful gift.
ANDAMOOKA OPAL comes from a small outback town in South Australia. The work involved in mining this opal, the small field it comes from and the gorgeous results mean that it is a unique and more rare type of Australian opal. There is not much material coming from this field these days and therefore this type of opal is becoming more rare. It has ‘pin fire’ flash, little specks of colour in a host stone, and the greater the concentration the more brilliant the colour.
