Description
Handmade solid wood Trinket / Keepsake style box. Northern NSW Rosewood,( Rose Mahogany) the timber was recovered from an old stump that was being cut up for fire wood, Balfour's property at Bungalora. Inner is TAS Black Heart Sassafras, solid brass 95' strap hinges, inner base is padded red tapestry. Box is 275mm long 125mm wide & 60mm high outer dimensions.
The Rose Mahogany will darken with age, it has a very high natural oil content very aromatic wood when worked. Corners have butterfly splines for extra strength.
