My friend Amanda (from Qhearts handmade) and I have been collaborating to create a collection of truly special, heirloom quality pincushions.
I have created the bases with the most beautiful Australian timbers, shaping each base so it feels smooth, warm, and full of character. Amanda has lovingly paired these bases with a soft, hand‑stitched cushion top made from complementary fabrics that sit perfectly within the timber.
For some of the pincushions, we’ve also added 000 steel wool inside, giving makers the added bonus of being able to sharpen their pins and needles as they use them. Some of the round cushions also include a strong 8mm x 10mm neodymium magnet underneath, so that you can attach it directly to your sewing machine or other handy magnetic surface.
Each piece is a little blend of my woodworking creation and Amanda's textile artistry — practical, beautiful, and made to last.
They are lovingly sanded to 400 grit and polished with my spoon butter, a mix of pure beeswax and organic coconut oil.
