This handwoven cotton scarf has been inspired by a new year of experimentation, of trying something new. In this design I have created, i've used a pick-up stick. This technique usually features intricate, detailed patterns that appear to 'float' above or 'pop out' from the background fabric. This technique involves manually manipulating warp threads with the pick-up stick during the weaving process to create specific designs, with a unique texture and visual depth evolving.
I have used a grey cotton from Bendigo Woollen Mills in Victoria for this scarf. The design is subtle while adding some extra interest, with the pick-up stick pattern generating a tactile quality. This cotton is lovely and soft, natural with a durable feel that drapes well.
The unique, artisanal nature of the design and the durable weave make the scarf a unique and lasting accessory of gift.
So, if you're looking for a scarf with extra visual interest, something unique to go with a casual or smart dress, maybe this one-of-a-kind scarf is for you.
