Banksia Serrata - a firm favourite in the Australian Bush! There are so many banksias across our lovely land, and our local banksia serratas or 'Old Man Banksia' here in the Blue Mountains always captivate me. Their gnarly trunks, woody old seed pods and bird attracting flowers are interesting in all seasons!
I created this image from an original sketch I did many years ago, and enjoyed carving every little seed pod and leaf from my lino block. After hand printing, I have lightly coloured with artist's watercolour paints to bring it to life.
