Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.

I'm a mixed-media artist specialising in resin to create functional art, including homewares and decor. My work combines wood, flowers, shells, and sand and often uses bright, glossy colors. Resin is a versatile medium, and I enjoy experimenting with new techniques to push creative boundaries and craft unique pieces.

Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.

I've always been creative, exploring various artistic ventures over the years. Growing up near my Nana, who was also very creative, I learned to sew, knit, crochet, paint, bake, and dance. Eight years ago, I discovered resin art, and it's since become my true passion.

BEAUTY-full Art began with the first resin serving board I shared on social media. It received many compliments and sparked interest from people interested in purchasing one for themselves. This lead to the business's creation.

What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration comes from everywhere - the colors around me and the places I visit. Living in Canberra, surrounded by National Parks and mountains, I find peace roaming in nature, away from the city and suburbia.

Growing up on the NSW South Coast, I also feel a deep connection to the beach and ocean, which is why I incorporate Australian native flowers, seashells, and sand into my work.

Where did you learn your craft?

I'm entirely self-taught. My interest in resin art sparked when I saw a small but vibrant wall art hanging on the wall at my sister's house. Curious and creative, I researched extensively and started experimenting with supplies. Thanks to the wealth of resources online, learning has become more accessible.

Over time, I've learned that resin quality varies, and I owe the quality and durability of my work to both my creativity and the high-quality materials I use. Through trial and error, I've found trusted brands and local suppliers for resin, colorants, and inclusions such as Australian native flora.

Why is handmade artistry so important to you? 

Supporting Australian small businesses is important to me, especially handmade ones. I value the care and effort that goes into each piece. Handmade items are often unique, offering something special that isn't mass-produced.
