There is something special about the connection between the hands and the clay, and this tray reflects that process. I’ve shaped this piece from start to finish in my Brisbane studio using a rustic Australian clay that has a beautiful, gritty character and I chose a clean white glaze for the finish to let the natural personality of the clay do the talking.
The dark speckles you see are the minerals from the earth, firing through the glaze, giving it that raw, "salt and pepper" look that I love. I’ve also pressed a small moon and petal emblem into the center as a quiet reminder of balance and ritual.
Formed by hand, it’s not meant to be perfect like a mass made piece; it’s meant to be real
It’s the perfect place for a smudge stick or incense, however, since the glaze is food-safe, you can use this for everything from serving snacks to holding your favourite jewellery. It’s a sturdy, grounded piece of the Australian landscape designed to sit beautifully in your home for years to come.
Length 25cm, width 11cm and a 1.5cm rise from the table top.
