These Crimson Wings are red polymer clay drop earrings with an organic, wing-like silhouette and a blended faux-stone surface that gives the design plenty of visual depth let alone the obvious sculpted texture!
They measure 3 cm x 3 cm, making them noticeable without taking over your entire outfit, or getting lost in your hair. Although, if your outfit was planning on being boring, these may have other ideas ;)
The different shades of red, textured surface and touches of gold give each pair its own visual variation. They're the sort of earrings that don't quietly sit there waiting to be noticed. They have a job to do, and I made them do it right.

Crimson Wings begin with several soft shades of red polymer clay. The clay is conditioned and rolled before being chopped and put into a pile, combined with paint, leaf/foil and assembled into a structured cube, specifically vital for this design.
The cube is then sliced into even slices (sorry for the repetition), with those slices (haha sorry again!) brought together to create a slab. The individual earring shapes are then cut from the slab before being gently placed on a ceramic tile to be baked.
Once baked, each piece is individually finished, polished, sanded or shaped as needed, and the holes for the jump rings are pierced before the jewellery components are attached.
The result is a pattern with natural handmade variation. The slices come from the same constructed design, but the exact placement of colour, foil and metallic paint will naturally vary from pair to pair. Because apparently even polymer clay refuses to behave identically twice, and I know that for certain!

Crimson Wings combine different shades of red with a faux-stone effect to create a surface that has more going on than a single block of colour.
The organic wing-like shape gives the earrings their distinctive silhouette, while the layered colour and visible foil and paint details add visual interest across the surface.
At 3 cm x 3 cm, they have enough presence to become part of the outfit rather than simply disappearing into it.
These aren't the earrings you add because something is missing.
They're the earrings that make you realise something WAS missing.

You do not need somewhere important to go before you're allowed to wear the good earrings.
Wear them to dinner. Wear them to work. Wear them with jeans. Wear them on a completely unremarkable Tuesday while doing something painfully ordinary.
Because "I'll save them for a special occasion" is a suspiciously effective way to never actually wear the things you love, and that is terribly sad don't you think?
Put them on.
Make the ordinary occasion slightly less ordinary.
Make the unremarkable Tuesday, a remarkable compliment filled Tuesday.

Now, I am not telling you how to dress, you should know that by now if you have access to the internet and can manage to find a sassy pair of earrings then you're old enough to have good taste my girl. But if I were telling you how to dress... I'd suggest you wear these Crimson Wings with black for maximum contrast and let the red become the focal point.
Pair them with white or cream for a clean combination that gives the colour and texture plenty of room to stand out.
Add them to denim and a simple top when you want an everyday outfit with considerably more personality.
For a more colourful look, use them as the red element in a colour-blocked outfit and keep the remaining colours deliberate rather than competing with the earrings.
The easiest styling rule? Let the earrings have something to say, then don't make the rest of the outfit shout over them. That's what I stand by, and I get complimented on the street next to every day.

For the person who notices the earrings before they've noticed what everyone else is wearing.
Crimson Wings make a great gift for someone who likes colour, handmade jewellery and pieces that don't look like they've been selected from a catalogue of sensible decisions.
They're suited to birthdays, Christmas, celebrations, thank-you gifts or simply the very valid category of "I saw these and immediately thought of you."
And if you're buying for someone who is difficult to shop for, earrings have one obvious advantage: you don't have to guess their clothing size (right?! - soo much easier!)
Each pair is presented on an mmmclay jewellery card, ready to ship in a cute handmade gift box ordeal - I won't spoil the surprise - you'll know when you see it. Like my Nana always says, I've got to leave some mystery!

Keep your earrings away from water, perfume, hairspray, oils, lotions and harsh chemicals.
Remove them before showering, swimming or sleeping.
Avoid bending, dropping or putting heavy pressure on the clay.
Store your earrings somewhere dry, flat and protected when you're not wearing them. Avoid storing them loose with keys or other objects that could scratch or damage them.
If needed, gently wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
And, as always, treat your earrings like jewellery rather than throwing them into the bottom of your handbag and hoping for the best.
oh & don't forget;
It is a fashion parade, actually.
