Maru was born in the Ecovillage in Currumbin Valley, stitched from ocean-blue cotton that carries the calm of the sea. His name, Maru, is a Māori word meaning shelter and protection — a reminder that kindness and care are stitched into even the smallest things.
His body is alive with coral patterns that ripple like reefs beneath the waves. He is a bunny born of sea-dreams, carrying the spirit of the ocean into the valley.
Maru is adventurous and a little cheeky. He loves to bound through the hoop pine forest, pretending the tall trees are coral towers and the kookaburras are seabirds circling above. His blue ears twitch at every sound, always alert for the next adventure.
Maru’s favourite place is the creek. He sits at the water’s edge, watching the platypuses dive, imagining they are dolphins in disguise. Sometimes he splashes his paws in the water, sending ripples across the surface, whilst watching the wood ducks swim around.
Maru is bold, curious, and full of wonder. He carries the calm of the valley and the wild mystery of the ocean.
Whenever someone hugs Maru, their heart-shaped patch glows faintly, reminding them that kindness is stitched into the smallest things
