Description
Although this bag is designed for knitters, it can also be a handbag. A friend bought a similar bag for her mother, who is a knitter. Mum loved it so much it is now her handbag!
This bag is closed with ties, to allow the bag to be overfull. It stands open to allow yarn to feed freely, while being 'corralled'. The outside has a background of brown branchlets on cream, with squares of floral fabrics in reds, blues, gold, pink and brown attached. The squares are firmly stitched, but the edges are designed to fray - one of the photos shows part of a quilt I made many years ago with this technique.
The lining, which can be visible at the top, is a dark brown with large cream flowers. The handles are made from the background material with some of the 'leftover' squares inserted.
All the fabric is cotton, including the wadding, so a cold wash and drying in the shade is recommended.
The bag is not a regular straight-sided box shape, so its dimensions can vary, depending on what is placed inside. When laid as flat as possible, the bag is 38 cm from the bottom to the handles, and about 45 cm long. When packed with items it is 27 cm from bottom to handles, 33 cm wide and about 23 cm deep. Each handle is 53 cm long and 3 cm wide.
