Thread & Temper is a small leathercraft studio based in Adelaide, South Australia, creating handcrafted leather goods with character, purpose and a little bit of adventure.
I’m Tess, the maker behind Thread & Temper. Every piece is made by me in my home workshop, from selecting and cutting the leather through to punching, stitching, edge finishing, hardware and the final maker’s mark.
I work with beautiful Australian and New Zealand leathers to create pieces designed to be genuinely used and enjoyed — belts, wallets, journal covers, bags and everyday leather goods, alongside a growing collection inspired by fantasy, adventure and old-world craftsmanship.
I love allowing the natural character of leather to become part of the design. Grain, markings and subtle variations mean no two pieces are ever quite identical, and good leather only becomes better as it is carried, worn and lived with.
Thread & Temper is intentionally small-batch. Some pieces are ready to ship, others are made to order, and custom commissions give me the opportunity to create something specifically for the person who will own it.
Made slowly. Made thoughtfully. Made to gather stories.
