In the Lilibet shop you will find a variety of totes, hobo bags, shoulder & crossbody bags and associated accessories that have all been upcycled from other items.
The idea for these creations came about when I found a gorgeous quality gentleman’s dressing gown in an op shop and I could see how it could be reincarnated - suddenly the creative juices started flowing and my inventory grew & grew.
I source my fabrics from op shops, donations from friends & family and sometimes from online fabric de-stash groups; because of this my supplies of each lot of fabric are extremely limited. This means that every item is unique and each design can never be repeated in exactly the same way.
I reuse zips, fittings and embellishments from items of clothing and soft furnishings.
I use new sewing threads, fabric stiffening and bag hardware. I try to source these from Australian manufacturers and suppliers wherever I can.
My intention is to create one of a kind items that are functional and appealing. The very nature of sourcing my fabrics means that every single item is unique. I am inspired by the beauty of the fabrics and allow them to speak to me about what new life they can be reborn into.
