Firstly, a little bit about me. I began sewing as a child of about 11 or 12 years, taught the basics by my mother at our family dining table – which doubled as a sewing space on weekends. Sewing has drifted in and out of importance during different stages of my life, but now in my early 60’s and with the arrival of grandchildren - the joy of it has been rekindled. 

I have come to appreciate how lucky I was that my mother planted that seed all those years ago. Now with more time on my hands, sewing has become a daily pleasure - one I’ve decided to share beyond my family circle. And so, Cactus Patch was born.

Every Cactus Patch piece is sewn by me in my home sewing space in rural Central Queensland. There is only me involved in the process and that means no rushed production, no shortcuts, and no two pieces ever exactly the same.

I take my time with each item – choosing the pattern, selecting the fabric, laying, cutting, stitching, pressing as I go, and finishing everything neatly inside and out. My goal is to create clothing pieces for babies, toddlers and children that reflect the love and care that went into making them. Each design has been made for, worn by, and road-tested by my own grandchildren so I know they’re both practical and special.
