My Name is Libby and if you mix the letters up it spells Bilby.. hence Bilby Beads and I often have a Bilby shaped bead in my creations. I have collected glass beads since I was a child and have always loved glass and colour, my beads are all about colour and quirky creations.
I have been making beads for over 15 years using a technique called Lampworking. I use a hot flame to melt the coloured glass rods and once the glass is molten it is wound around a thin steel mandrel adding colours and designs as I go. Once the bead is finished I cool it slowly and the end result is actually very strong and won’t break even when accidentally dropped on a cement floor!
From there I mix and match the beads to create my jewellery, no two beads or creations are the same..
I also make hollow glass beads which are perfect for earrings as they are lightweight and the light shines through them beautifully. I use sterling silver for all hooks and clasps.
